Modular Workshop

Quality Journalism in the Age of Social Media and Artificial Intelligence

available in English and German

I see this modular workshop as an opportunity to further develop skills that can be useful wherever life takes you. In the full-week version, participants will produce a written, photographic, or video report on a topic of their choice under my guidance. They will learn the basics of quality journalism, storytelling, writing, and photography through practical examples and tips from an industry insider. You can find the individual modules listed below.

Participants will work with Sebastian Sele, a multimedia storyteller who publishes with major publications ranging from "The New York Times", "VICE" and "Bloomberg Businessweek" to the Swiss daily "Neue Zürcher Zeitung"; in his reporting he focuses on human stories in contexts of global or local relevance: sea rescue in the Mediterranean, tourism in war-torn Syria, migration to the United States, assassinations of environmentalists in Colombia, and so on.

Sebastian has worked as editor-in-chief of VICE's Zurich office, as a content strategist at WIRZ Communications, and completed the one-year visual journalism program at the International Center of Photography in New York City.
